your bread machine.
Caramelized Onion Bread
1 1/2 lb. recipe
1/2 C. caramelized onions (below)
1 C. water
1 T. olive or vegetable oil
3 C. bread flour
2 T. sugar
1 t. salt
1 1/2 t. bread machine or quick active dry yeast
Add onions at the raisin nut signal
Select basic/white cycle. Use medium or light crust color. Do not use delay
cycles. Remove baked bread form pan and cool on wire rack.
Caramelized Onions:
Note: The onions need to cook slowly, so the natural sugar in them can
caramelize and develop that delicate sweet flavor. So be patient, and don’t
increase the heat to make the onions brown more quickly.
1 T. margarine or butter
2 mediums onions, sliced
Melt margarine in 10-inch skillet over medium-low heat. Cook onions in margarine
10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions are brown and caramelized;
remove from heat.
