This is the most basic of all bastes.
It is good on meats, vegetables or breads.
Brush the baste on the food while it's grilling. Make sure you are using a long
handled brush. Coat with enough of the baste to coat the meat but not so much it
goes into the grill, it will catch fire. |

Garlic Butter Baste
1 stick butter
3 minced garlic cloves
1/2 t. fresh cracked black pepper
Optional Flavorings:
1/4 C. chopped cilantro or parsley
1/2 t. grated lemon zest
2 T. lemon or lime juice
1/2 - 1 t. hot pepper flakes
1 T. sun dried tomatoes diced fine
2 T. fresh herbs such as basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme or sage
Melt the butter in a small saucepan. Add the garlic and black pepper. Do not
brown, keep the heat low. Add any addition flavors you desire.
