Chocodeath Cake
2 cups cake flour, sifted
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup sweet butter
2 cups sugar
3 large eggs
2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
3 oz unsweetened chocolate
1 cup sour cream
1 cup water, boiling
Filling:
1/2 cup sweet butter
12 oz caramels
1 can sweetened condensed milk
Preheat oven to 350º. Grease and flour 9x13 pan.
Sift together flour, baking soda and salt, set aside.
Beat butter and sugar together in a large bowl. Blend in eggs and beat until
light and fluffy. Stir in vanilla extract and melted chocolate.
Alternately, add dry ingredients and sour cream to the
butter mixture. Beat well after each addition. Stir in the boiling water (batter
will be thin)
Divide cake batter in half. Pour one half in pan. Bake 15 minutes, remove from
oven
Meanwhile prepare filling. Mix butter, caramels and sweetened milk in a saucepan
and melt oven low heat, stirring often.
When melted, pour mixture over half baked cake. Pour the
remaining cake batter over caramel mixture and return to oven. Bake 25 minutes
more
Cool and serve with whipped cream.
