Unsweetened chocolate squares do not
contain sugar or flavorings. Sometimes it is called unsweetened baking
chocolate. Older recipes may refer to it as bitter chocolate.
Chocolate Caramel Sugar Cookies
3 squares unsweetened chocolate
1 C. butter
1 C. sugar
1 t. vanilla
2 C. flour
1 t. baking soda
1/4 t. salt
2 C. finely chopped pecans
1 14 oz. package Kraft Caramels
2 T. milk
1 C. semi-sweet chocolate morsels
Microwave chocolate squares and butter until completely melted. Stir in 1 C.
sugar, egg and vanilla. Then mix in dry ingredients.
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Shape dough into 1" balls and roll in
pecans. Then make an indentation in each ball with your thumb.
Bake in a 375°F. oven for 8 - 10 minutes. Remove and cool on a wire rack.
Microwave caramels with 2 T. of milk until melted. Fill centers of cookies with
caramel mixture then drizzle on melted semi-sweet chocolate morsels.
