Wacky Cake
1 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
3 heaping tablespoons cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon vinegar
6 tablespoons melted butter or oil
1 cup cold water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift dry ingredients together into an ungreased
8-by-8-inch pan. Make 3 depressions with spoon. Place vanilla in one depression,
vinegar in another and butter in the last. Pour cold water over all and stir
until well-mixed.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes, or until center of cake springs back
when touched gently. Serve warm or cold.
