Attach a recipe card with the following
instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly spray a baking sheet
with nonstick spray.
In a large bowl combine 1 egg, 1/4 C. water and 1 t. vanilla. Add the entire
contents of this jar of cookie mix. Stir the mixture until a stiff dough forms.
Drop the dough by rounded teaspoons onto the baking sheet. Bake 14 - 16 minutes
or until edges are a light golden brown.
Remove from oven. Let set 1 minute and then remove cookies to a wire rack to
cool.
Each jar makes about 3 dozen cookies.

Oatmeal Cookies Mix in a Jar Recipe
2 3/4 C. flour
2 t. salt
1 t. baking soda
2 C. packed brown sugar
1 C. white sugar
2 C. vegetable shortening
6 C. quick or old fashioned oats, uncooked
4 C. of add-ins (1 C. per jar, divided) such as these: candy coated chocolate
pieces, dried cherries, dried cranberries, chocolate chips, chopped nuts
To prepare the cookie mix:
In a large bowl stir together the flour, salt and baking soda. Add the sugars
and mix well.
Cut the shortening in with a pastry blender until the mixture is crumbly. Stir
in the oats.
Have ready 4 clean qt. jars with lids. To fill the jars, layer as follows:
Evenly divide the cookie mix into 4 parts. Divide the optional add-in of choice
for each jar. Place 1/3 of the cookie mix on the bottom of each jar. Add half of
the add in, top with another third of the cookie mix followed by the remaining
half of the add-ins. Place the remaining cookie mix on top as the last layer.
Place the lid on the jars.
