3 cinnamon sticks
3 bay leaves
1/4 C. whole cloves
1/2 lemon
1/2 orange
1 quart water
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and
simmer as long as desired. Check often and add additional water if necessary.
Mixture may be stored for several days if refrigerated and reused.
Gift Spice Potpourri Mix in a Jar Recipe
4 oranges
4 lemons
1/2 C. whole cloves
1/2 C. whole allspice
10 cinnamon sticks broken
10 bay leaves crumbled
8 oz. jelly jars
Using a vegetable peeler, peel fruit carefully, removing only the peel. Spread
peel on a paper towel lined pan. Place in a preheated 175°F. oven and dry peel
in oven for 1 1/2 hours. Peels should be leathery. Air dry for 24 hours.
Mix with remaining ingredients and pack into jars.
To use remove lid or put 1 tablespoon into a pan and add boiling water.
