Grandma’s Kitchen was a marvelous place. No
modern gadgets, no gleaming pots and pans, no exotic spices. But she
had an almost magical way of turning ordinary things into great,
tasty food. More than anything, she derived genuine pleasure from
cooking and baking, for family and friends.
During the hours spent
in my grandmother's kitchen, listening, talking and laughing, I
developed a love and appreciation of cooking that I'll carry with me
for the rest of my life. It is impossible to forget the incredible
aromas in the air. When she baked cookies, you could always hear the
bangle of her bracelets and see the flour fly, as she would roll out
her cookies.
Some of her favorite cookie recipes were Molasses
Cookies, Sour Cream Cookies, and Coconut No-Bake Cookies. So it is
only appropriate that this section is named after her.
