Meat-Crust Pizza Recipe

Meat-Crust Pizza

Crust:
1 pound very lean ground beef
1 egg
1/2 small onion, finely chopped
1 small clove garlic, finely chopped
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp fennel seed

Filling:
3/4 cup Italian plum tomatoes, drained and chopped
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
1/4 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp basil
Salt and pepper to taste

Topping:
6 ounces mozzarella cheese
2 hot Italian sausages (optional)
1/4 tsp oregano
3 tbsp freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Mix together beef, egg, onion, garlic, salt black pepper and fennel
seed. Press mixture into a 9-inch pie plate to form a shell.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Bake pie shell 15 mins, then pour off
fat (if any).

Mix together tomatoes, red pepper, oregano, basil, and salt and
pepper to taste. Spread tomatoes over pie shell. Top with mozzarella
cheese.

Cook sausages 5 mins, drain, and slice into 1/2-inch rounds. Arrange
sausages over cheese. Sprinkle with 1/2 tsp oregano then with
Parmesan cheese. Bake additional 15 mins, then cut into 6 pie-shaped
wedges and serve piping hot.

19.0 grams of carbs for entire recipe; if serving 6, each serving
contains 3.3 grams of carbs.

Makes 6 servings. Who needs a fattening bread crust on pizza anyway?

BROIL
