Chicken Stew
1 large chicken
4 qts water
4-5 medium potatoes
1 medium onion
3 carrots
4 cups of flour
Boil chicken in water until falling off bone. Remove chicken and de-bone. Return
chicken to pot and simmer on low. Peel potatoes, carrots and onion.
Cut into small pieces and add to pot. Mix enough milk or water in 3 1/2 cups of
the flour to make a slightly sticky dough. Turn onto floured surface and
sprinkle with flour. Roll out dumplings thin. Cut into strips and add to pot.
Simmer on low 45 minutes to an hour. Salt and pepper to taste. I also add a
pinch of dill for that chicken soup flavor.
