Kansas City Honey BBQ Wings

1 can (12-ounces) root beer
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons white vinegar
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic clove, minced
1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
1/2 teaspoon ginger, ground
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, ground
2 pounds chicken wings

Place all ingredients except chicken wings in large bowl, and stir until blended. Add wings, cover and marinate in refrigerator for at least 8 hours. Remove wings. Place remaining marinade in medium saucepan and boil 5-10 minutes to desired sauce thickness, stirring occasionally.

Grill wings 15-25 minutes or until juices run clear when pierced with fork and meat reaches internal temperature of 180 degrees; turn and baste with marinade occasionally. Serve with boiled sauce. Makes 4-5 servings.
