Description

Rich Portuguese coffee truffles melt with silky chocolate ganache and intense espresso notes. Sophisticated treats blend creamy indulgence with robust caffeine flavor, promising an elegant dessert you’ll savor slowly.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 4 ounces (113 grams) cream cheese or coconut butter
  • 2 tablespoons (30 milliliters) butter, or more coconut butter
  • 3 ounces (85 grams) chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (optional)

Sweeteners:

  • 3 tablespoons (45 milliliters) powdered sugar or erythritol

Flavor Enhancer:

  • ½ teaspoon (2.5 milliliters) instant coffee

Instructions

  1. Gather cream cheese, coconut butter, and butter, ensuring they have softened to room temperature (68-72 degrees Fahrenheit or 20-22 degrees Celsius).
  2. Thoroughly blend all ingredients in a mixing bowl using an electric mixer or whisk until the mixture achieves a uniform, silky consistency with no visible lumps.
  3. Transfer the blended mixture to the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes to slightly firm up, making it easier to handle and shape.
  4. Using a mini cookie scoop or tablespoon, carefully form uniform spherical shapes, gently rolling between palms to create smooth truffles.
  5. Place the shaped truffles on a parchment-lined baking sheet, then transfer to the freezer for approximately 20-25 minutes until completely solidified.
  6. For an optional decadent finish, melt high-quality chocolate with of neutral cooking oil to create a glossy coating.
  7. Delicately dip each frozen truffle into the melted chocolate, ensuring complete coverage, and return to the parchment-lined sheet.
  8. Allow the chocolate coating to set at room temperature or quickly chill in the refrigerator for 5-7 minutes.
  9. Cut larger truffles into bite-sized portions if desired, maintaining their elegant round shape.
  10. Store the finished coffee truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days or in the freezer for 2-3 weeks.

Notes

  • Softening ingredients beforehand prevents lumpy, uneven textures in your truffles.
  • Freezing helps create perfect round shapes and makes handling the mixture easier.
  • Scooping with a mini cookie scoop ensures consistent truffle sizes for even presentation.
  • Melting chocolate with a touch of oil provides a glossy, professional-looking coating.
  • Chilling truffles intensifies their rich coffee flavor and creates a delightful, melt-in-your-mouth texture.
